LMBC Winter Warmer Social Rides - 2016
LMBC will be once again running winter social rides to keep the legs turning over. These rides are designed to help us get out and about over the cooler months and perhaps explore trails we don’t ride that often. Rides are designed as cruising, although some locations are a little tougher than others. Juniors and new riders are welcome but please check for suitability.
Juniors must be OVER 12 years old or older. They must have a parent riding with children under 18 years of age.
Bring drinks and snacks
Wear layers of clothing, as some rides will be cool.
Social Ride # 1
Where - Osmaston, back of Westbury (private property)
When - Saturday 25th of June
Time - 10:00am until 4.00pm
Location - 254 Donovans Rd, Osmaston

For insurance purposes require attendees to hold a current mtba license or alternatively you can sign up for the 3 month free trial by following the links on the club website.
Chris and Astrid invite LMBC members and friends for a winter social ride on their property at 254 Donovans Rd, Osmaston on Saturday 25th of June from 10:00am until 4.00pm.
The track consists of 8 km of interesting and sometimes challenging single track on a sandy base.
Just head off and see if you can ride it all , B lines are there if needed. This is a private track and open by invitation only. See below (attached) for the map and directions to the property. Note Donovans Road is not on Google maps. Notification via the MTB facebook site if the day is cancelled due to poor weather.
Directions: Take the C501 from Westbury to Deloraine, turn left on to Fern Bank road, left again onto Donovan's road and follow to the end, through the double gates.

Social Ride # 2 - Family Fun Day
Where - Derby When - Sunday 24 July Time - 10.30 am 1.30 Map - at this link Age - 12 and up This plans to be a family fun day. We are planning to help beginning riders understand their bikes and how to ride them around the green trails at Derby. While we are helping the beginners, why not join a group and explore Dam Busters or Krushkers, at a social pace? Meet at Secondary Trail Head, between 10.15 & 10.30, so we can organise ourselves. Near main maps and this sign....... Beginning riders need to have basic bike skills including balance, working brakes and helmet. Everyone should carry basic spares (tube etc), drink bottle and snacks. |

Social Ride # 3 Where - Mt Stronach When - Sunday 28 August Time - 1.30 pm - 3.30 pm Meet at Jenson Rd, Scottsdale Map - at this link Bring - Drinks, snacks, spares, etc Wear - layers of clothes Food - to eat after ride and warm clothes. Cancellation on LMBC Facebook 10 am on day Ride info at this link Tassietrails.org This is a pretty short but hard ride. It's pretty much straight up an old 4WD track and then along a walking track up to the trig point. You'll either ride it (if fit & strong) or be pushing with me! The views on a clear day are well worth the effort up effort and the descent back is over in 5-8 minutes, unless you hid a water bar the wrong way............. This ride is being done on this weekend, to allow those that know Mark & Felicity at the Weldborough Hotel to say farewell. This will be their last weekend as publicans of the best little pub in Tassie and long time supports of both LMBC and mountain bikers in general. They were helping and welcoming mountain bikers enjoy the organic trails of north-east Tasmania before it became trendy to do so. Social Ride # 4
CANCELLED - sorry folks Where - Dazzler Range When - Sunday 25 September Time - 12.30 pm - 3.30 pm Direction - Meeting place is 500 metres along C741 - Bowens Rd, which is off C740 Bakers Beach Rd. You can also come From York Town. Signs will be out. Map at this link Age - 12 & over (parents to ride with kids, please) This ride is a relatively easy 25km loop of some old fire trails and moto tracks. Great views of Backers Beach and Narawntapu National Park. There is a 4ish km dirt road grind up to an awesome 7 km rough downward track. A dually would be best for this ride. You'll also get wet feet towards the end of the ride. These trails are pretty good to ride, even after wet weather. LMBC hasn't been out this way for 2 years, so come and check it out. We won't be riding in the national park. You'd want a reasonable level of fitness, although we'll ride at social pace.
